In describing DERIN YOUNG, New York City's Village Voice once wrote, "Imagine Odetta as a young funkateer."  Pretty Accurate.  That blur of genres, that cross-pollination of the whomp and the traditional is at the core of producer, songwriter and vocalist, Derin Young's unique sound and vibe.  As both a vocalist, working with numerous musicians including Lenny Kravitz, and the rock band, Living Colour, and as leader of her own ensembles, Derin Young is forging a new world of musical expression and freedom.
